Real Vs Drama: In the stay order Supreme Court cited the “high moral standards” set by Navjot Singh Sidhu when he resigned. Opposite to this Sonia Gandhi played the self garlanded drama of renounces.
He resigned as Member of Parliament the day he was sentenced in a case of culpable homicide in December. It also said that politicians should follow this example.
Opposite to this viewers should remind the drama Sonia Gandhi. The Congress, we need to remember, is the party that had led a major song and dance about an “office of profit” in that Sonia Gandhi, to find itself outmaneuvered and then led a huge temporary-renunciation drama of the resignation from Lok Sabha. It was reported that in the guidance of Sonia and Somnath Parliament passed a bill that provides for exempting 56 posts on the purview of double profit. Sonia, Somnath, Karn Sinh, Amar Singh feels free. ‘Shining India’ lost. ‘Shining UPA’ wins the battle.
“BJP doesn't know what justice is” UP Congress President Salman Khusheed says. Khursheed unsuccessfully defended banned SIMI in the Supreme Court as a lawyer of SIMI. Congress can’t dare to ask even Tihar prisoner Shibu Soren from the Lok Sabha. Though, Sidhu resingend immediately to honor the High Court verdict and now he boldly becomes a challenge to Congress in the coming election in Punjab. So many Congress leaders were and are in Tihar jail. Manu sharma son of former minister of Congress, Tadoor Sharma foremer Youth Congress leader and Sharda Jain Congress Councillor of Delhi are shaking hands with Shibu Soren in Tihar. Such Congress is raising finger on Sidhu. "The fact that the day he was convicted, he chose to resign. Who else has done that?" said Arun Jaitly
Supreme Court has stayed High Court order mainly on the following grounds:
(1) Sidhu’s name is not in the FIR
(2) After examining evidence in the case, the apex court noted that the police complaint was not clear as to who gave the blow to the victim.
(3) Postmortem report does not say that victim dead due to the blow of Sidhu
(4) Salve had contended that the incident dates back when Sidhu was a cricketer and he entered public life in 2004 and his conduct as a public person has been good.
(5) Supreme Court noticed that Sidhu resigned from Lok Sabha to honor High Court and appeared before the Supreme Court to honor the law of land.
While pronouncing its decision in Sidhu`s favour, the Supreme Court said he was not a person who became an MP while the conviction was operating against him. Instead at the time of contesting the polls, he was acquitted by the trial court, it said.
A jubilant Sidhu said after the apex court order that "I had submitted to the majesty of the law and the Supreme Court has stayed my conviction and sentence".
SC sighted reasons for stay. This verdict may be reason for downfall of Pb CM Amrinder Singh. Sidhu has defeated six time winner Congress candidate R L Bhatia from Amritsar in 2004 Lok Sabha election. 'Main court ke har faisle ko bhagwan ka faisla manta hoon -,' Sidhu said.
Today the Indian Supreme Court has put on hold the conviction of former Indian cricketer and Member of Parliament Navjot Sidhu in the road rage case. The judgement will allow Sidhu to contest a crucial parliamentary by-election in the state next month.. BJP has already declared Sidhu as its candidate for the Amritsar Lok Sabha. His opponent will be Mr Surinder Singla, Finance Minister in the Amarinder Singh government.
BJP is being labeled by foreign media and fake secular media of India as only Hindu Party. Vote bank politics evokes Sikhs against Hindus unsuccessfully; for the contradiction of Hindu Sikh hated agenda of UPA and Left this Sikh face in a Sikh-dominated state is important. Being a leader in BJP he reminds the sacrifices of Sikh Gurus to save Hindus and their struggle against the conversion of Hindus. As Mughal did at that time now the same is being done in Kashmir and other places. Chirstian missionaries are doing this conversion job day and night. In the name of Sarv Dharm Sammelan the same conversion plan has been exposed by Hindu Organization in Kanpur. Sonia Gandhi’s Christian lobby’s planning is exposed here: In a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the Federation of Indian American Christian Organisations sought help in stopping the bill passed by Himachal Pradesh in December 2006, saying the law will be used to harass and intimidate minorities.
Sidhu, 43, once a flamboyant batsman, became famous as a cricket commentator on Indian TV channels for his wisecracks, known as Sidhuisms. He played in 51 Test matches for India between 1983 and 1999, scoring an average of 42.13 runs.
Overnight, Sidhu seemed too had donned his politician's shoes as the former circketer turned commentator walked through the Wagah border in April 18, 2004 to resume his first innings in politics. It was a different Sidhu in his political metamorphosis as he chosed his words with care during his first inter-action with the media.
"Politics is a serious business. I joined the BJP with the motive to serve the people. I will do for the people whatever I promise to them", Sidhu told reproters during his first interaction with the media at Amritsar in 2004 Lok Sabha Election.
Sidhu said to media,"I never demanded the ticket form the BJP. There were no pre-conditions from my side when I decided to join the party," Sidhu said. Aware that his rivals would be targeting him for being an "outsider", Sidhu , who hails from Patiala said: "I will not go back to Patiala but will stay in Amrtisar. I am committed to work or the people of my constituency and I will faithfully stick to my word". He said it was not right to dub him an outsider form Amritsar- "the whole India is my home".
He fulfilled his promise. He went to Patiala only after resigning his lok Sabha seat. He added a bright feather in his moral turban to do this.
Navjot Singh Sidhu was born October 20, 1963. is former Indian cricket batsman, who took up television commentary and, in 2004, politics following his retirement from the game. He was born in Patiala in Punjab. Sidhu was elected to the Lok Sabha from Amritsar in 2004 on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket; he has since resigned, following his conviction for culpable homicide.
It is fact that he drew audiences and therefore, much valued TRPs. This in turn helped his political career. Sidhu has already taken after resigning his seat cudgels on behalf of Punjab's main opposition- the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) alliance - to gun for the Congress and particularly Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Both Sidhu and Amarinder Singh come from Patiala. Leading from the front comes naturally to Sidhu as he goes about addressing scores of political rallies across Punjab - spewing venom against Amarinder and the Congress - and meeting up with his celebrity assignment deadlines in Delhi and elsewhere.
Ironically, his political popularity after being declared a 'convict' has soared. This was more than apparent on Dec 8 when the Akali-BJP combination organised a political rally of over 500,000 people at Moga near Ludhiana to celebrate the 80th birthday of Akali top boss Parkash Singh Badal. When Sidhu reached the microphone to speak, the half a million crowd roared. When he actually spoke, he took the thunder away from all the Badals, Advanis, Rajnaths, Chautalas and others. "I am not the one to be cowed down (by the conviction). I will rise from the dust," he roared to the applause from the crowd.
Despite being the host of a comedy show, Sidhu makes no mention of the comic tragedy in his own life. His late father, Bhagwant Singh Sidhu - a leading criminal lawyer of Patiala who saved many in courts with his legal acumen - is not around when Navjot needed him the most.
Immediately just after his sresignation Sidhu took cudgels on behalf of Punjab's main opposition- the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) alliance - to gun for the Congress and particularly its Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Both Sidhu and Amarinder Singh come from Patiala. Being projected as BJP's frontman for Punjab even before his conviction early December, the alliance is using the wave for him to their full advantage.
He is addressing smaller rallies two to three times every week. Sidhu's political fate still hangs on what the Apex court makes out of his case. His bail is only till Jan 31 and he has the three-year prison sentence looming over his head. Now today he has gotten a reprieve from the Supreme Court, Sidhu could land up in hometown Patiala to take on Amarinder Singh in a direct contest for the assembly seat.
