Andrew Symonds portrayed as Lord Hanuman

Australian newspaper (The Courier-Mail) has published on January 7, 2008 in its edition an image of Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds with his face superimposed on Lord Hanuman’s body.

One viewer to see the religious hurting image of Australian newspaper (courier-mail), sent the email in protest to the editor of the said newspaper: “You have published a picture of Australian Cricketer Andrew Symonds with his face superimposed on Lord Hanuman's body on Monday, 7 January 2008. By doing this you have hurted the religious sentiments of Indians. Hanuman a monkey god is worshipped by Indians. Ramayan is known all over world. Perhaps yuo are also know about this great religious book and iHanuman who build Ram Sethu ( Adams bridge) .Please correct the mistake by publishing appology for this knowingly or unknowingly religious huting image,”


In the past “Toronto Star” selected and published nude picture of Goddess Durga. After that the Toronto Star regrets that publication of the original photo has caused anguish and apologizes to the Hindu community.
This picture is deeply hurting the religious sentiments of each and every Indian. No Indian could accept, insulting their beloved Deities.

Peak Indian migrant group the United Indian Association condemned the spinner's three-match ban and denied he was being racist when he called Andrew Symonds a monkey during the second Test.
Association President Raj Natarajan said the Australian team had "behaved in an un-sporting manner".

"Considering that the Monkey God is one of the revered idols of Hindu mythology and worshipped by millions, it is surprising it was considered a racist term," he said in a statement.
