Sandeep Tiwari, a Lucknow-based film maker and once the assistant of director Anil Sharma of Gadar-fame, during his half-a-month stay recently in the city, he shot four telefilms based on religious beliefs. “Many people who worship daily don’t know much about their gods. I have tried to explain it through my films like Hanuman upasana and Shani upasana after extensive reading”, he says.
Being a Hindu cultured nation India is different from America and newsly born Pakistan. Shia-Sunni clashes started in the morning with arguments over the route of the procession.Tension has now spread to other areas of old Lucknow with clashes also reported between the police and the mob. Para military and other forces have rushed in and there were reports of the police having opened fire.
Sunnis traditionally take out a procession from Aminabad to Aishbagh on Barawafat, which marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. The procession was banned earlier due to clashes but allowed by the administration after a compromise between leaders of the Shia-Sunni sects in 1999 due to the evvorts of then communal!, PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
