On the first day of his campaign, Rahul chose to stay away from all caste-related issues, focusing mainly on youth and bad governance.
"I want to ask you all one simple question: What have the successive government done for you in the past 15 years?" he asks in one of his rallies.
But the reception from the crowd that gathered to check him out at Muradnagar was at best lukewarm. Rahul's charisma, known to work well in Amethi and Rae Barelli, seemed to be missing in this area.
"I am here to work shoulder to shoulder with you to change this state and usher in all-round development, and to forget the 15 years of misrule," he thundered.
The Congress' trump card has chosen his mother's style of campaigning — small public meetings where he interacts with voters. And on Monday, Rahul even had an unplanned meeting during a break at a fast-food joint. But this may not be enough for the Congress to re-establish its touch with the state.

This continuum would enable one to draw out the linkages between corruption as a political phenomenon and the institutional health of Indian democracy.

Even today in villages a 'MADARI' (hindi name for monkey trainer or Juggler) on the streets, with his monkey performing acrobatic stunts, much to the amusement of the local by-passers who at the end pay a rupee or two for the performance. It has come our knowledge that, unfortunately some of these 'MADARI's' treat these animals very shabbily. There is also monkey dance in politics. Some one has told me the dances of Natwar Singh and Chaudhary Afit Singh and how they are being treated by their political dance master.

Nearly 450 families of the “Kalandar” (Madari) community residing in nearby Ranherakhera village are facing starvation due to a ban on the show of animals by the Union Government and the alleged failure on part of the authorities to launch any rehabilitation programme for them.
A 1972 ban on snake charming has been inconsistently implemented, but more than three decades later, 75 percent of the entertainers have felt its effects in some way, a study by the private Wildlife Trust of India found. Largely chased out of major cities, the snakes charmer is now increasingly based in villages where he does not risk police crackdowns but earns far less, the study said

Snakes charmer and Madari who do not want to disclose their adenitis, said the entertainers, whose skills are passed from father to son, desperately needed to find a new form of income. "India is known for its kings and its snake monkey beer elephant as Sonia Gandhi herself said at the time of marriage to Rajiv Gandhi. Kingdoms are gone but dynasties have come. They have stopped entertainers profession but there was a time when we entertainers used to be sent abroad to perform at festivals of India. Even that has stopped now," One said. "Please restart these festivals instead of inaugurating the MF Hussein’ Exhibition of nude paintings of Bharatmata and Goddess Saraswati," another said.

Snake charmers set loose scores of cobras on the Mahatma Gandhi Road near the state assembly on Sunday during a protest against the government, causing passers-by to maintain a safe distance.
Police moved in and directed the owners of the venomous snakes to put them inside their baskets as they are not allowed to display the reptiles in a public place.
A large number of snake charmers led by the president of the 'Sapua Kela Sangh' or association of snake charmers demand that the ban on public shows be lifted.
Will life of Rajiv goes ‘reverse’
There was a report from Bathinda: The undying desire to get his name registered in the Guinness Book of World Record and to spread the message of peace and friendship between India and Pakistan by ‘driving the car in reverse’ seems to have put the life of Mr Harpreet Pappu, a local resident and his family, in ‘reverse gear’.
Mr Pappu, whose wife has been writing in reverse, seems to have suffered the setback from the day he took this missionary task as, after covering a distance of 16250 km by driving the car in reverse in 50 days, he could not get his name registered in the Guinness Book on the one hand and on the other, he has come under debt as he was forced to borrow more than Rs 1 lakh to meet the expenditure of his “one-man mission”.
“I took up this mission the day I was beaten up by a jawan of paramilitary forces during the curfew imposed in Punjab in 1984 when the terrorism was at its peak. I decided to drive the car in reverse to reverse the trend of bitter relations between India and Pakistan so that peace could prevail in state”.
Mr Pappu, who has driven different vehicles and covered a distance of 7 lakh km, has been finding it difficult to go to Pakistan on his peace mission as he could not find anyone who could sponsor his mission.
One channel has reported two days back that another reverse car driver has started his reverse journey from Kolkata flagged by Sports Minister of West Bengal. There was one car in the front and another car wan behind the reverse car driver for avoiding accident. His destination is Wagha border.
